The programming contest is a highlight of ACM events.

The first programming contest was held in 1998.  In every year after this, we have had steady participation from the high schools in Volusia County.  We have had able participants from schools like Celebration School, DeLand High, Lake Mary High School, Fort Pierce Central High School, Ransom Everglades School, and Lake Highland Preparatory School every year.  We now host approximately 20 teams every year usually comprised of up to three team members.  With every year, different schools participate and therefore increase the diversity of student minds that take part.
The prizes awarded for the contest come from funding obtained by independent sponsors and donations from various Stetson departments. Generous support from trustee Tom Wands in particular has made this contest possible.  Additional support has come from Neil Wilson of the Wholesale Computer Company and Best Buy.  Team members of the top three teams receive renewable $6000 scholarships to Stetson, as well as a computer for their school.  Every contestant also receives a tee-shirt and a prize.
