An Introduction to C#

Two of the students of the ACM student chapter (Michael Gilkes, a senior, and Colin Branch, a junior) have been learning this new language on there own, and have been using this language to implement projects for their individual classes. These students took the opportunity to share their C# knowledge with the rest of the chapter and the Math/CS department. Here is the abstract from the talk they gave:

Wednesday, 06 November 2002

The time of development of applications is a primary concern of most software developers. Microsoft's .Net platform is a group of interconnected tools that allow for rapid development of applications for the Windows Operating System. One principal tool is the programming language C#. The C# language is a modern object oriented language combining many of the aspects of Java and C++. This talk will provide a summery of the features of C# such as its basic design, flow control, object oriented model, and class library. The talk will also touch on how it compares to other object oriented languages such as Java and C++. Finally we will discuss the effectiveness of C# as it pertains to rapid application deployment.
